ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp., mother company of Star Cinema Film Productions, is getting ready to sue several netizens who illegally uploaded duplicates of the hit romantic comedy film The Achy Breaky Hearts.

ABS-CBN has as of now gotten the rundown of netizens who will be prosecuted with no doubt for abusing the anti-cybercrime law and/or the Philippine copyright law.

Last July 5, ABS-CBN’s Film outfit Star Cinema released an official statement about the illegal upload and sharing of the film on online networking.

Before that, the film’s director Antoinette Jadaone took to twitter to vent her disappointment about the theft of her film The Achy Breaky Hearts. Jadaone didn’t mince words in lashing out on the individuals who uploaded and shared the film’s link on the web.


Last 2014, ABS-CBN also sued 18 sites for pirating ABS-CBN TV shows/Movies.

On Instagram, actress Jodi Sta. Maria expressed gratitude toward each one of the individuals who have as of now seen the motion picture in cinemas, saying their love and support mean a lot to the whole group behind the film.

“Let’s support the local movie industry by reporting illegal links of the film to report@abs-cbn.com,” she urged her followers.

“The Achy Breaky Hearts” earned P14 million on its opening day on June 29.
